Description
The U.S. Geological Survey, Upper Midwest Environmental Science Center intends to award a non-competitive purchase order via request for written quotation to International Industries, Inc., 407 Innovation Drive, Annapolis, MD to be delivered by 04/22/02. The anticipated award date is 03/18/02. This equipment is needed to evaluate the distribution of native mussels in rivers and determine environmental factors that are contributing population declines. The proposed contractor offers unique qualifications in the followings areas, which are considered essential to the requirement. These unique and essential qualifications of the equipment are 1) the equipment meets the requirements for remote sensoring of mussel beds and sediment characteristics in rivers, 2) is a portable system capable of operating waters less than 0.5 meters deep, 3) It can be configured to use two 200 kHz transducers for working in both shallow and deep water, 4) the wide beam of one transducer is designed to work in very shallow water because it samples a footprint on the river bottom that is equal to the working depth, which is sufficiently large to identify low density mussel beds, 5) the narrow beam transducer samples a much smaller footprint and work in areas with depths up to 20 meters, and 6) the system outputs the classification data in real time, and provides direct information on the sediment characteristics. THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSE ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. Information will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Determination to compete this requirement is solely within the discretion of the Government. Reponses to this notice must be submitted by 3/15/02 via email - edodson@usgs.gov or fax - (703) 648-7367. No additional synopsis will be published. See Numbered Note 22.
