Description
The Government intends to issue an unrestricted competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) for two each electrically powered infrared ovens of the batch-style type designed for curing the powder paint on recently coated products. These infrared ovens will be used to cure recently coated U.S. Navy mines. The ovens shall accommodate an operating temperature range of 130 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, and shall employ convection air re-circulation as an aid in the transfer of the heat and provide for uniform temperatures. The oven shall have double doors at each end and a material handling slot running the entire length. The oven shall be designed to be operated in manual mode or automatically for each of the three heat zones. Approximate dimensions of the ovens required are 11' wide x 7' high x 15' deep. Ovens shall operate on 460 V, 350 Amp power. The oven shall employ actuators to move the oven sides (width) in and out in order to position the oven around the products being coated, and the two end zones shall be capable of being manually positioned to angle in, in order to cure the same. In addition to other relevant codes, the ovens shall be in conformance with National Fire Protection Association Bulletin #86 for Class "A" ovens. Installation, start-up and training, and submission of logistical support data, including a unique Navy manual, will also be required as part of the contract. This requirement shall be fulfilled by supplying "commercial items" as defined in Section 2.101 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation. The estimated date of issuance for this RFP is 28 March 2002. The RFP will be posted on the NAVAIR web site: http//www.navair.navy.mil All interested offerors can obtain a copy of the RFP and attachments by the website only.
