- Description
- The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) proposed to negotiate on a sole source basis a contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with Aerodyne Research Inc. (ARI) to support NOAA scientists in the deployment of the Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (AMS) on board the NOAA research Vessel Ronald H. Brown during the New England Air Quality Study (NEAQS) to be conducted from July 10 through August 10, 2002. Specifically ARI personnel will: 1. Assist in the installation of the AMS and its associated electronics into a sea-tainer that will be mounted on the deck of the RV Ronald H. Brown. Once installed the instrument will be tested to ensure optimal operation during the research cruise. 2. ARI personnel will work with NOAA scientists onboard the vessel during the first half of the research cruise. ARI personnel will also be available to assist in the real-time reduction and analysis of the data during the whole cruise. 3. ARI personnel will assist in the analysis of data collected after the field study has been completed. In particular, ARI will work with NOAA scientists to classify the types of particles measured. Period of performance is April 1, 2002 through April 2, 2003. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (under $100,000). Information submitted in response to the notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement.
