- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Coherent Laser Group, of Santa Clara, CA 95054, for acquisition of one Solid State, Diode Pumped, Frequency Doubled Nd:YAG Laser (Compass 315M-150), which will be used at the Surface and Microanalysis Science Division at NIST.*****Sole source determination is based on the need for compatibility with existing hardware and software that have been developed for a pre-existing Coherent system. The new system will be used in a computer-controlled application, for which the existing hardware and software were developed. Therefore, Coherent is uniquely qualified to meet the Government's current requirement. Purchase of another brand laser would result in unnecessary and costly redesign of the existing hardware and software.*****Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 10 weeks or less from receipt of purchase order (ARO).*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 Employees.*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by March 13, 2002, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.*****
