Description
The Marine Corps has a Mission Need Statement for an eyesafe laser rangefinder for the M1A1 Main Battle Tank. The eyesafe laser rangefinder must integrate into the existing Gunner?s Primary Sight (GPS) and not degrade the performance of the M1A1. The eyesafe laser rangefinder shall provide target acquisition ranges during on the move operation, vehicle engine idle, and silent watch operations. Responses to this request for information should be for a Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) solution that will provide: a. Wavelength of 1.535 to 1.545 microns; b. Not be adversely affected by operation of the M1A1 equipment; c. Shall have a minimum range of 250 meters or less; d. Shall have maximum range of 7990 meters or greater; e. Shall have a range resolution of + 5 meters; f. Sustained rate of ranging of 1hz for 2 minutes; g. Beam divergence of less than 1.0 mrad; h. Weigh less than 20 pounds; i. Withstand the tactical environments of the tank; j. Operate from 18 to 32 volts DC; All vendors having the capability of meeting these requirements are requested to submit copies of relevant documentation in response to this Request for Information at no cost to the Government. Written responses should be submitted not later than close of business 29 March 2002. Firms should also include literature, brochures, and capabilities summaries directly addressing their ability to meet the aforementioned needs. The submission of the product information should not be construed as a commitment to procure equipment. The Government will not pay for any information submitted. No telephonic responses will be accepted.
