Description
The Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Drug Courts Program Office (DCPO) attends to award on a sole source basis a purchase order to the National Rural Alcohol and Drug Abuse Network, Inc. (NRADAN), P.O. Box 40, Tony, WI 54563-0040 in support of the eighteenth annual national conferences. The NRADAN conferences are scheduled for June 2-6, 2002, at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, WI. The NRADAN will offer three rural drug court tracks entitled: "Basic Track", "Advanced Track" and "Adolescent and Family Track". NRADAN was established in 1985 in response to the unique needs of over 65 million people living and working in rural communities that were not being addressed by a majority of the existing alcohol and drug abuse programs. The goal of NRADAN is to bring excellence in prevention and treatment to the non-urban population. NRADAN's goal is met through: an annual national conference to provide an opportunity for participants to network with other rural alcohol and drug abuse professionals, Federal agency representatives, and to receive training from nationally recognized Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse experts. Also, the NRADAN provides regional professional development seminars for individuals serving the alcohol and drug abuse prevention field; publishes rural specific resource materials; and operates a rural RADAR Specialty Center to offer technical assistance and consulting services on rural-specific needs and issues. The need for drug court tracks is due to Rural America experiencing an increase in drug abuse that rivals its urban and metropolitan counterparts. Drug courts have proven to be very effective in reducing recidivism and improving treatment outcomes for drug offender population. The annual conference provides an opportunity for OJP/DCPO to disseminate information and training on drug courts to rural communities, an audience not reached through other conferences. This purchase order shall be negotiated in accordance with the authority of 41 U.S.C. 2152 (c) (1) ? Only one responsible source with unique capabilities. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION.
