Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to issue an order on a sole source basis to the American Ceramic Society, Westerville, OH, under FAR 13.6 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items, simplified acquisition procedures. This is ongoing work from a previous contract. The American Ceramic Society is the only professional organization in the U.S. with a technical membership that specializes in ceramic science and is a leading technical publisher of scientific materials dedicated to ceramic sciences and has more than 35 years of experience in the professional editing of the type of technical work involved. Tasks include professional editing services to critically evaluate published scientific articles selected by NIST technical staff that contain phase equilibria diagrams. Editing services include general topic editing, editing of new phase diagrams, and the writing of short commentaries to accompany each phase diagram added to the reference book series, "Phase Equilibria Diagrams". Services will be provided on an as-needed basis according to publication schedule and the number of scientific articles selected by NIST staff for inclusion in the reference series. The period of performance will be from date of award through six (6) months, with four (4) six-month option periods. The anticipated award date of the order is on or about 10 days from the date of this notice. A written quotation has been obtained from the vendor. Interested persons may identify their intent and capability to respond to the requirement by submitting their capabilities no later than the response date above. A determination by the Government not to compete this contract based upon responses to the notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. For information, call the POC identified herein.
