Description
The U.S. Geological Survey, Coastal and Marine Geology Team, requires the transcription of 9-track, 2400-foot, 1600 bpi DFS-V field tapes in SEG-B format (approximate quantity 2,000), 9-track, 2400-foot, 1600 bpi demultiplexed tapes in a modified PHOENIX I format (approximate quantity 500); and 2400-foot, 800/1600 bpi stack tapes modified PHOENIX I or SEG-Y format (approximate quantity 1,500). The contractor will convert all data to SEG-Y, and write the output to 20 gigabyte Digital Linear Tape (DLT) or 650 megabyte writeable compact discs (CDR). Contractor will supply digital (ASCII) logs of transcription statistics and records of all read errors (parity, short record, etc.) that occurred during input. The contractor will be responsible for disposal of the tapes after data have been transcribed and copies verified by the Government. In general, the DFS-V field tapes and demultiplexed tapes are written the entire 2400-foot length, while the stack tapes have varying amounts of data ? from 5% to 100% of capacity. The CDR discs delivered must be labeled with a survey identifier and sequential disc number, preferably printed directly on the disc rather than on a removable label. CDR need not be delivered in jewel cases; CDR sleeves are preferable. The government also requires the scanning of 20,000 8.5 X 14 inch observer log sheets. These logs must be scanned at a minimum of 300 dpi and saved on CDR in PCX or comparable format. Tapes and log sheets will be delivered to the Contractor by the Government on a schedule agreeable to both parties. All data must be transcribed and delivered to the Government by September 30, 2002. All responsible sources may submit a quote which shall be considered by this agency.
