- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to negotiate on a sole source personal services contract with Kubaj Adazu. The requirement will be for twelve months with eight option items that will extend the period of performance to a total of 60 months if all options are exercised. The purpose of this requirement is to obtain the services of a demographer to provide in-country assistance to complete the development, operation, and utilization of a demographic surveillance system (DSS) at the CDC supported research station in western Kenya. The Contractor, will assist with the development of DSS 1) review the DSS currently being developed by the KEMRI/CDC Research Station and make recommendations for modifying and improving the systems procedures; 2) train and supervise a local (Kenyan) project manager to provide daily supervision of research activities in the DSS. Incumbent must periodically travel to the DSS field sites to supervise DSS field activities; 3)oversee utilization of the DSS by acting as the principle investigator for many of these studies and provide the lead for developing the scientific agenda and research protocols for demographic research to be conducted in the context of the DSS, and coordinate research with the lead scientific investigators of other health research and program projects conducted in the context of the DSS. Kubaj Adazu is the only known contractor that meets the minimum qualifications which are 1) minimum of a Master's Degree in a social science with a concentration in demography, 2) at least three years of data management experience with a demographic surveillance system in rural Africa.
