Description
The National Aeronautical Charting Office (NACO) requires charting support for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Airspace System (NAS). This announcement is issued to identify potential sources who may provide Printing, Finishing, and Distribution support for the suite of IFR Enroute products. The Contractor shall be responsible for: the pick-up of Government-furnished negatives from a location in Washington, DC; creation of lithographic press plates; completion of printing services that meet chart specifications; the delivery of press sheets to Government reviewers in Silver Spring, MD; the finishing, folding, labeling and packaging of finished products; and the shipping of packages through various mail carrriers to FAA and NIMA prior to the FAA-established effective date. The required chart quantity is 750K (estimated) per cycle (quantity requirements for print and distribution is every 56 days), and four-color printing is required. Charts are as large as 20 inches by 55 inches, and print two up, therefore press size requirements are approximately 60 inches. The Chart production quality, performance sc! hedule, coordination, and distribution requirements are extremely rigid. Quality, inspection, and efficiency processes are extremely significant. Anticpate a five-year contract (including options) consisting of a one-year basic period, and four (4) one-year option periods (not to exceed 5 years if all options are exercised) beginning May 2002. This requirement is competitive, and set-aside for Small Business IAW the Small Business Act. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) for this action is 2752, and the North American Classification System (NAICS)is 323110 for Commercial Lithographic Printing. A copy of your certification must accompanpy any proposal submitted in response hereto. Issuance of thte solicitation is anticpated no later than 31 Jan 2002, and will be available from the Internet.
