Description
Program Development for the next generation of TRICARE contracts benefited from the public's input provided at the industry forum held in late October, and from follow-up correspondence (input) from both government and industry leaders. Subsequent analysis and discussion resulting from this input have resulted in important changes to our original concept for contract design. Based on the Project Manager's recommendation, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs and the Executive Director of TMA decided that our refined approach will not incorporate the unbundling of Healthcare and Administrative Services as separate contracts. Contrary to the original concept briefing (contained in this web site - http://www.tricare.osd.mil/pmo/t-nex/ ), the two service categories will be combined and competed as integrated healthcare service regional contracts. The government is still planning to issue a separate contract for the development of a national suite of Marketing and Education products as outlined in our original Concept of Operations. It is important to also note the government has not made a final decision on whether future T-Nex healthcare service contractors will be "Not At Risk" or "At Risk" for services provided. Various options are still being developed, including "At Risk" options for healthcare costs. Industry comments are still welcomed. Previous notice posted on November 7, 2001, reference number 02-2005.
